Lamb of God’s Chris Adler and Mapex Drums Draw an Impressive 730 Fans to Tour Kickoff in Salt Lake City, Utah

LAMB OF GOD’s CHRIS ADLER and MAPEX Drums were thrilled to see a whopping 730 fans arrive at the “A Throne with a View” tour’s impressive Salt Lake City, UT kick-off show at BackBeats Drum Shop on Monday the 28th. A typical drum clinic will draw about 50-70 attendees. This impressive turnout is only a taste of what is yet to come on the “A Throne with a View” tour, and ADLER hopes to see many more fans out at his upcoming appearances. The tour will take ADLER through the country until March 16th when the tour lands in Hollywood, FL at Resurrection Drums. The tour is sponsored by MAPEX DRUMS, AQUARIAN, PRO MARK, GIBRALTAR, MEINL, and ZOOM (SAMSON).

“Never would I have expected such a massive and warm response,” states ADLER. “I had a blast jamming tunes and talking shop and SLC really brought it. Honestly, I was shocked and a bit of a nervous wreck without my bandmates, but in the end I loved every minute of it. I’m lucky to have the opportunity and I hope to share that, and if all goes well, inspire everyone that stops by.”

“The performance CHRIS ADLER brings to his drum clinic is at the same level as his performance with the band live and in the studio,” states Joe Hibbs of MAPEX Drums. “Because he is truly a musical and drumming artist, fans know it is important to see him in these truly special clinic appearances.”

“The “A Throne with a View” tour with CHRIS ADLER was a huge success,” adds Sean Chase of BackBeats Drum Shop in Salt Lake City, UT. “A sell-out crowd of over 700 attendees witnessed an inspiring performance and insight from one the world’s greatest drummers. Chris’ humility, honesty, and passion for our craft gives us all something to aspire to.”

“GIBRALTAR is proud to support CHRIS ADLER,” affirms GIBRALTAR Hardware Artist Relations manager Kim Graham. “He has been an artist of ours for eight years and is an amazing person and drummer to have on our team.  It’s no surprise that this clinic tour is such a success!”

On this tour, ADLER is playing on MAPEX’s newly released Black Panther “Blaster” drum set. MAPEX introduced the Black Panther Drum Collection in January at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA and this will be the first opportunity for many fans to see and hear it. The Blaster kit features a unique maple and walnut shell design and is the first in a series of new drum sets based on MAPEX’s popular series of Black Panther Snare Drums.

ADLER appeared at the prestigious Modern Drummer Festival in 2005 and performed a “Battle” clinic tour with his brother Willie Adler across Europe in 2008. “A Throne with a View” is his first and only U.S. clinic tour in 2011. See below for all current clinic tour dates, and watch an example of one of ADLER’s aforementioned drum clinicshere.

Ralph Woodson certainly knows his Hendrix.
He has studied his idol to the point of being able to play the guitar behind his back, and with his teeth. Ralph’s a Hendrix authority, and it’s obvious when you see him perform.
The youngest of nine, he grew up in Richmond, CA, and was initially struck by the sound of the “Band of Gypsys” record. Ralph has toured with Hedzoli Sounds (of which Hugh Masekela was a member), as well as The Mighty Diamonds, Lady Bianca, Faye Carol, and a Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead)/Sy Klopps (Herbie Herbert) collaboration called the Trichromes. With the Trichromes and later with the Sy Klopps Blues Band, Ralph played on big stages opening for Tower of Power, James Brown, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others. He’s appeared at the College of Marin and on KFOG-FM with author/Hendrix expert Steve Roby, demonstrating the sound and techniques of Jimi Hendrix.
Ralph formed the Ralph Woodson Experience in 2001 (which became Purple Haze in 2010), focusing on the Hendrix material that he grew up with and always loved. Purple Haze has gained a steady following in the Bay Area and knock people out wherever they go. Ralph’s showmanship and command of the Hendrix material is second to none. See it for yourself!

An outcry against tyranny, Prometheus Bound illustrates one man’s struggle against the brute force of a ruthless dictator. Written by Tony and Grammy Award-winning playwright and lyricist Steven Sater (Spring Awakening) with music composed by Grammy Award-winning System of a Down lead singer Serj Tankian, this new musical is inspired by Aeschylus’s Ancient Greek tragedy about the heroic struggle of Western civilization’s first prisoner of conscience. A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus stages this world premiere production, immersing the audience in an environment that has the Dionysian energy and rebelliousness of a rock concert. The A.R.T.’s production of Prometheus Bound runs from February 25 to April 2 at the A.R.T.’s  OBERON.  For further information about this production and the A.R.T.’s  2010-11 season, log on to http://www.americanrepertorytheater.org

Lights Over Paris to Release New Single, ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’ this Spring

Planning Release of New Album in Spring of 2011

Lights over Paris

Los Angeles, CA electro-pop punk group LIGHTS OVER PARIS is pleased to announce the upcoming release of their next single, ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’. The single is produced by Dr. Luke’s Ammo (Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Katy Perry) and will be released in mid-April 2011. ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’ is cut from the band’s upcoming untitled release which is due out this spring. The album also features producers Kool Kojak (Flo Rida), Matt Squire (3OH3!, Ke$ha, Panic and the Disco, Boys Like Girls) and features singer Dev (Like a G6, Bass Down Low)

“’I’m Not a Gangsta’ and any single will make you fall in love with the actual band, not just the song,” states vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University.

LIGHTS OVER PARIS’ sound encompasses the styles of their many influences in rock, pop, electro, and punk. The band harkens back to a late 90’s punk rock mentality while looping around pop turns and dance rock twists, with the occasional hip-hop influence thrown in for good measure.

[adrotate group=”3″]

The band’s debut single off of their 2010 Turn Off The Lights EP, title track ‘Turn Off The Lights’, is currently in rotation on numerous Top 40 stations across the country, and has been downloaded over 100,000 times. The music video by RockHard Films (Lady Gaga) premiered on Yahoo Music’s highly trafficked home page on June 3, 2010, and has been viewed over 1 million times on YouTube. The band was also the first in history to be featured on Pandora with an album only previously distributed digitally. The EP is produced by Kevin Rudolf (Lil Wayne, Cobra Starship, Lifehouse) and mixed by Tom and Chris Lord-Alge (Blink-182, Sum 41) and Serban Ghenea (Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Britney Spears). The EP officially dropped in April 2010 via Digital Records/Type One Records. Fans can listen to the Turn Off The Lights EP athttp://lightsoverparis.bandcamp.com.

In support of the EP, LIGHTS OVER PARIS concluded their sold-out U.S. “Turn Off The Lights Tour” in October 2010. The tour was sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Monster Energy Drink and Icelandic Glacial H2O and promoted drinking responsibly while helping fans stay hydrated!

LIGHTS OVER PARIS initially came together in 2002 by way of a very happy accident. Vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University created an AOL profile and listed “singing in the shower” as one of his hobbies. Keyboardist Will Pepper searched for singers nearby and stumbled upon Robb. They bonded instantly and recorded five songs after their first meeting. Those songs eventually made way for the band to meet with well-known producer Kevin Rudolf.

The band—Robb “TaLLLLL” University (Vocals), Will Pepper (Keys), Devin Bronson (Guitar), Mike Torres (Bass), Dave Gentry (Drums) and Shiny (DJ)—could be sonic superheroes. From Robb’s larger than life pipes to Will Pepper’s keyboard sorcery, each element makes for evolutionary dance rock. Vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University describes their one-of-a-kind sonic movement. “Each song is completely different because they’re all amplifications of our diverse personalities. We play what we want, and the music is always going to be fresh and new.”

Robb concludes, “There are choices I’ve made because of my favorite bands. I want kids to feel that way about our music. I want them to be inspired to do something that they might’ve been afraid to do before. We’re already creating a community with our fans as well. This is the start of something insane.”

Keyboardist Will Pepper states it in the best way possible. “LIGHTS OVER PARIS is the biggest fucking movement in music, what else needs to be said?”

Produced by Howard Benson (Papa Roach, Three Doors Down), Vices and Virtues expresses Art of Dying’s energy and vitality with a blend of urgent, blaring guitar rhythms, atmospheric and transcendent counter melodies, and vocal harmonies that complement the heaviness of the music. Uptempo songs like “Die Trying” and “Straight Across my Mind” reverberate with the triumphant spirit of a raised fist, while tracks such as the acoustic-based “I Will Be There,” “Best I Can,” and “Raining” (which features guest vocals by Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier) are more reflective and vulnerable, revealing the pain of imperfect relationships and the redemption that lies within their repair.

Art of Dying, which is vocalist/lyricist Jonny Hetherington, guitarist Greg Bradley guitarist Tavis Stanley, bassist Cale Gontier, and drummer Jeff Brown, hit the road this month for the first annual Avalanche Tour with Stone Sour, Theory Of A Deadman, Skillet, and Halestorm. John Bercaw Jazz, “Bevis” CD Release Date – March 1st, 2011

Announcing the release of a 2011 rendition of “Bevis” by Jazz Master, John Bercaw.

John Bercaw CD BevisIncluded in the release, tracks will range from original cuts to covers that span across a lifetime journey of artistic expression. With the expected publish date of “Bevis” to be in the upcoming weeks, John has crossed into another direction of sharing his talent with the world.

Recent credits and appearances have given new life and more importantly, exposure to a true legend of piano. John’s own words perhaps explain best:

“I would like to sell my music to anyone who appreciates good piano. These are some of my best efforts and represent a lifetime of continued study with the best instrument. Everyone likes the aero-phone, membrain-o-phone, chord-o-phone, and ideo-phone. These instruments play only one note at a time, but the piano (which I consider a chord-o-phone) is a whole orchestra.

“At present I am working on personally recording all of the tunes in my head. It will take a while.

“The term BEVIS came when Cal Collins and I were driving down route 27 to Colerain for a gig and our drummer Terry Moore noticed a little town sign: BEVIS. Cal, who could never remember anyone’s name, had a habit of calling everyone baby, which came out BYAABIS. Terry noticed the similarity and started calling me BEVIS. It stuck and I have been known as BEVIS ever since. Later

Album Description:
I don’t know of any pianist who has recorded all of his storeroom of knowledge. These selections represent many years of gigs, practice, schooling and study. I would like to leave a legacy of the songs I love and some I don’t. I began in the late fifties thinking all I wished to do would be to take a decent improvised chorus on blues or rhythm changes. I was able to do that and went on to just be the best piano player I could be. Here they are, mistakes and all.

I have been into music all my life. From the hours I spent under my Mom’s piano, to the time spent in the practice room studying Bach and Chopin I somehow managed to become a reasonably good improvisor.

One always wishes to do the recordings over but time and money usually prevent it. I hope someone out there wants to have my renditions of the tunes I like the most, however, there’s more to come in the future. Just keep the faith. Anybody can hear Tatum or Peterson or Shearing play flawlessly and now is your chance to hear BEVIS play maybe in a different way.
